Medical Referrals
Darul Quranul Karim
A glimpse of what is happening
Accessing appropriate healthcare remains a significant challenge for many Kenyan patients, mirroring a
global issue where individuals often struggle to navigate complex and fragmented medical systems.
Studies show that in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), including Kenya, patients frequently
face delays in diagnosis and treatment due to a lack of clear referral pathways, limited awareness, and
high out-of-pocket costs (World Health Organization [WHO], 2018).
According to a report by the Ministry of Health in Kenya, the inefficiencies in referral systems contribute to patient dissatisfaction
and increased financial strain, as individuals often seek care from multiple providers without
coordinated guidance (Ministry of Health Kenya, 2014).
In response to this pressing issue, Darul Quranul Karim is working to establish a robust and coordinated
referral system in partnership with medical stakeholders. This initiative is designed to streamline access
to cancer and adrenal healthcare services, guiding patients toward certified specialists and accredited
health facilities.
By improving the referral process, we aim to reduce diagnostic delays, enhance
treatment outcomes, and lower unnecessary healthcare expenditures—a goal aligned with Kenya's
Universal Health Coverage (UHC) framework and global best practices in health system strengthening
(WHO, 2021).
